I examine the various parts of the inner human body, as a way of exploring issues pertaining to human existence and emotion. Experience is relative, but our bodies have much that unite us as a species. Therefore I find these organs, cells and neurons, that constitute the very core of our existence, can be used as a means to create visual metaphors for life experiences.

Consciousness is the essential component to a life lived completely. It confronts us with surges of bliss, ecstacy, anguish and despair. It allows us to be overcome with music, words, images and beauty. With these things, we want to stay alive and artfully create our life stories. Human reactions an emotions are caused by groups of chemical and neural responses within the brain. These impulses travel on trails of hormone and enzyme throughout our whole bodies by-way of our central nervous system. Supported by this exquisite network of neurons and electrical impulses, our minds experience consciousness and our bodies follow.

For this series, I created symbolic juxtapositions of people, organs, neuron functions, memories, places and mental capacities. It is that pairing of bits of reality and fantasy together to create a new meaning, that interests me the most in my work. The impetus for my work comes from a highly personal and emotional time in my own life but I leave certain things open to my audience. For, in life, nothing is concrete and simple. I believe everything is relative and therefore, life is perception. If art is life, then I want my art to have the same opportunity for complexity. These works are meant to glorify the beauty of consciousness and the inner human body which is something we should all take a moment to revel in, within our own minds and bodies.
